Before I forget... here's some reading material for ya!

Music Review on a new album from a dead guy - the scraping of the barrell begins with this solo release from Lemmy of Motörhead called Born To Lose, Live To Win, and you can read all about it by clicking here.

Another Music Review on a new release from a Christian Punk band called Infirmities that I've been gigging around a lot with lately in my drum duties with Headnoise. The 7" is called The Faith And The Fury, and you can read all about it by clicking here.

The Fat Dukes Of Fuck have a new 2 CD collection out called A Compendium Of Depravity, Apricots And Urine Vol. 1 & 2, and you can read the Music Review on it by clicking here.

Music Review on the latest release from T.S.O.L. called The Trigger Complex, and you can read it by clicking right here. I don't know what happened to those guys. Senility I assume.

Spring is in the air... and so is forgetfulness and nostalgia, apparently.

Fear sucked. Admit it. Slow and old and boring and sad. Fear's musical attack doesn't hold up very well with some 60+ year old man leading the charge. Am I an asshole for saying that? Probably, but it's still true nonetheless. Seems to me some people just went to the gig because they never saw Fear before, and not because they actually like the band or know any of it's music. Plus, what was the cost to get in - $30? Eff that shit.

I'm not even gonna comment on that Green Day / Against Me! farce @The MGM. I dunno if seeing audience members wearing your bands tee shirts there is a good thing or not...

Same thing goes with The Damned. Forget the part about them selling VIP meet and greet packages like other cock rock cash grabbing asshole bands do - quite a few of my friends only went because they've never seen the band before, or because it was the "cool" thing to do on a Sunday night. I need new friends or something, I swear... lol When pressed to name any particular Damned song, I got responses from people going ranging from 'that Goth one' to 'I dunno the name of the song, but I'll know it when I hear it'. Le sigh. I'm the old guy. I remember when people would go to gigs to see bands and actually knew the bands material. Weird, right?

If you're in the pit, it's not a sucker punch. And 'dude' is not an offensive word. It's gender neutral - same with the word 'bitches'. ;)
The Mapes @The Divebar flyerFlyer stolen from Facebook
The Mapes gig @The Divebar on Sat. was fun. The debut of 'Joekey The Clown' on bass was nothing short of phenomenal. A few minor mistakes early on, but as the night progressed, and the bands heroic intake of booze increased, he sounded better and better - go figure. Freeing up Lord Baron from his bass duties just made The Mapes set all the more crazed, as he was all over the place, interacting with the crowd point blank and causing chaos everywhere he went. Capt. Whiskey's drum set is covered in mold, and his drum skins all have holes and tears in them, and it didn't matter one bit, because no one goes to a Mapes gig to for their fantastic tonal quality, although watching Haywood J. try to keep his guitar tuned during their performance was the funniest shit ever. Like it mattered! hahahaha Fantastic set. The Authorities cover was amazing. <3

Alan Six opened up The Mapes gig. They were great! I think Dave has more cymbals then drums now, but he's getting better at non-playing! ha ha ha Adrienne looked and sounded marvelous and Lance just hammered away at his guitar like a man intent to destroy something. They played some new songs, which were glorious, and the crowd was showing the love for the band, which was cool to see. I hadn't seen them in a while, and they sounded good. Love the band. I'm a huge fan. :)

That band Danger Inc. didn't do much for me. The name alone left me with visions of a Metallica cover band dancing around in my head, but instead of some classic Metal, I got hit with a major does of some sugary sweet Pop Punk music played by hipsters - 2 dudes and a chick. Little Lipstick Homicide lite, but bearable. It wasn't that they were bad, per se, but it was just more like, they weren't as good as Alan Six, who they followed, so it was a hard sell to me. At the end of the set they got Adrienne from Alan Six and Denise Heximer from Melanie And The Midnite Marauders to join them onstage for a cover of Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill, which sounded most excellent to me, and they played it at the end of their set, like you're supposed to, and not in the beginning/middle of their set, like most bands do nowadays, so kudos to them for that.

Fun night. Yeah, this is what I do now when I'm not at band practice or playing gigs of my own. I go to bars and watch my friends play in their bands. I only wish they did the same for me... yeah right!! hahahaha
