First off, this is something I've sorely been slacking on, and that's promoting this brand new video from one of my favorite bands The People's Whiskey. It's for the song Fist Fights And Miller Lites, which is odd, because I don't think there is either in the video... hahaha It was put together by Andy Harrison, who did a pretty good job with it. Check it out! :-) Speaking of Mr. Harrison, he has a new musical project called New Cold War, which is an all-star thing of sorts, featuring appearances from members of Guilty By Association, The People's Whiskey, and The Quitters. I'd love to tell you what it sounds like, but it's streaming on that other "Punk" website, so yeah... hahaha Is it just me or does that website get stupider and lamer by the day? Meh. Anyways, New Cold War have a CD release / debut gig coming up soon with DC Fallout on the 14th... maybe I'll be there to check them out. Better look into those facial hair transplants I've been reading about so I can fit in there... LOL Go to this gig tonight!!! I cannot stress enough how much fun it's going to be! The Civilians somehow went from being the headliners (it was our gig, our idea) to being the openers, but that's alright, because it's still a fundraiser of sorts, although I'm not supposed to be chatting that aspect of the gig up, because apparently we're a "controversial" band... heh heh heh I know nothing about the opening bands, except that Frank & Deans are a cover band that plays songs from the 40's and 50's in a Pop-Punk kind of style. I'll check it out and let you know how it sounds. ;-) I.D.F.I. is also playing @ the Double Clown if you're so inclined, Mercy Music is at Triple B's (again), and Spun In Darkness are raging @ the Dive. Tomorrow night the almighty CH3 are playing @ the Dive with Local curmudgeons Dangerboner opening, and if that's not to your liking, go pick it up! pick it up! with Social Control, who are playing @ the Beauty Bar for some reason. Lot's to do this weekend. There's a nice chill in the air. Get off your ass and have some FUN! :-) See ya around somewhere.

First off, go to this Pentagram / Demon Lung gig tonight! It's at the Cheyenne Saloon, (yeah, I know, I know), and if I didn't have band practice tonight I'd totally be there. The last time Pentagram played Las Vegas was at the Cheyenne Saloon also, when Pigasus opened for them, and that's the night of the infamous incident where the dickhead pole smoker that ran that place got a bit pissed off when certain members of said opening band and a photographer (coughcoughTakenByChancecoughcough) took the liberty of drunkenly putting onethirtyeight.org stickers all over everything that wasn't moving - pool tables, Kotex machines, flat screen TV's, and I, who didn't do a gawd damn thing, took all the blame for it, because apparently, he had me, and only me, on video, doing said crimes... LOL Me, the legendary, 'Gilbert Astrada', hahahaha Man, that shit was funny. I wonder whatever happened to that dooshbag that made up all those horrible lies about me? Oh yeah, he got fired from his job and quickly left town with his tail between his legs, trying to avoid dealing with his foolish actions... that's what happened to that fool. ;-) For years, Zack has told me of this great Interview he had with the Legendary Nardcore band Dr. Know, an interview he has been sitting on for years, always telling me it's almost done, man, I just gotta get a computer and transcribe it... hahahaha Well, damn if that little shit didn't go and finally turn in a pretty amazing Interview he did with Dr. Know that just covers all sorts of cool points of relevance in the Punk Rock scene in general today; band reunions, drunken shenanigans, vinyl collecting, etc., and it's got a few amazing drunken Zack stories in there as well, which, as any of you that know my good friend Zack already know, are some of the funniest things ever. One word - Ventura. ;-) Anyways, click here to check out the interview, or go to the new tab to the upper left here, the one that's between Links and Contact Info, the one that says Interviews, the one I had to put in again because Zack finally turned in his interview!! LOL He's threatening me with another one, and I can't wait to read that one as well. Everything is updated... I think. Don't know, don't care. I was in and out of a case of medicinal poisoning for the past 4 days, in which I had to call 911 on myself on Sat. night, which is why I missed the 3D6 gig @ Bar 702. Bob told me they killed it but that there was nobody there to see them. Phooey! Lots of cool gigs happening this week! The Civilians are playing @ Bar 702 Friday night, the Mods are invading this weekend for that High Rollers thing that goes on every year, Mercy Music is playing on Thurs. and Fri. night @ Triple B, because, apparently, they're like War Called Home in that they can't say 'No' to playing a gig! ;-) hahaha It's a great day today. I think I'll go explore the outside... My beloved camera had a bit of a problem recently with the flash, so I took it to B & C Camera to have it looked at. I went to the Sahara location, right by Zia's, and they told me that their repair guy was out of town until March 8th, but if I wanted to, I could go to the store location near Tropicana / Maryland and have it looked at, and so I did. I dropped it off and the next day the repairman called me up and said,
"Well, I can't even begin to see what's wrong with your camera until I give it a good cleaning. It's covered in stickiness, dirt, and I don't know what else. Is that OK?" Sure, I told him, and gave him the go-ahead to do the work. "Do you have a case for this camera?" he asked. I laughed and said I keep it in my purse. I don't think he 'got it', but whatever. A few hours later he called me again and told me some part that holds the flash was broken, and that it needed to be replaced. I gave him the OK to replace it. "You must use this camera a lot. I've never seen such a dirty camera before." I giggled and told him it was my work camera, which it kind of is I guess. He told me it took a couple of hours just to clean everything out. I beamed with pride. Another few hours later he called me back again, to tell me that the some sensor pin was broken, and that he had to replace this as well. I asked him how much this was going to cost me, and he told me a price that was cheaper than a new camera, so I told him to go ahead with the work. I went back to what I was doing. I cringed when I saw his number come up on my phone, wondering what the Hell could possibly be wrong now, and he laughed and told me that the entire top of the camera needed to be replaced, because it was cracked in numerous places. He told me it was a miracle that it was still working, and asked me if I ever dropped the camera before. After I stopped laughing I told him yeah, I've dropped that camera a few times, and he said, yeah, I can see that, hahaha He told me that it would take at least a week to get the part in, and so I gave him my credit card number and had the parts ordered. Still cheaper than a new camera. The moral of the story? There is none! LOL I just thought it was a funny thing to share. :-) Everything's updated. Pictures of The People's Whiskey playing @ the Dive bar just posted, and you can click here to check them out. I heard that Shaman Smith Studios is already closing down - anyone confirm / deny? Happy Valentine's Day! FUCK OFF!!! hahaha The birthday party the Vegascendents played @ the Beauty Bar last night was for Señor Chris Duggan, guitarist extraordinaire for Unfair Fight, and who's also turning into a pretty damn good drummer for TheCore. :-) It was the Big 3-0 for him, which I don't even remember turning hahaha, and the get together was cool as fuck! There was some grub there that I didn't even touch, opting instead to indulge in these AMAZING cupcakes that were there, White Russian flavored ones in honor of The Big Lebowski, these margarita flavored ones for the Catalina Wine Mixer, and some incredible banana flavored ones that were for some other movie reference that I've forgotten. I popped a couple of those in my mouth and had no problem playing a Vegascendents set. ;-) Besides seeing everyone walking around in these creepy looking party hats that were made up of Chris's smiling face, the highlight of the evening was seeing Mercy Music play. It was a Beardcore thing, and I avoided it like the plague, because, well let's face it, acoustic guitars are for boring old fucks, but apparently Brendan decided to rawk out with his cawk out once again, and got Jarred on bass to help him and some wool cap wearing Hipster on drums to bring it all together, and it was really good. Better than Absent Minded, not as good as Deadhand. :-) A little bit slower, a little bit more 'accessible', but I dug it. I told Bob, and I told this to Brendan afterwords as well, that if I thought Mercy Music sucked, we were leaving after 3 songs! LOL Thankfully they didn't and Thankfully I stuck around to hear their entire set. Really good stuff. Now I know why lame Scenesters hearts are all aflutter about this band. I feel like such an elitist Downtown dooshbag now! hahahahaha Yeah... just wanted to jump on here and put down in words how great last night's little get together was. Solid friends, beyond compare cupcakes (who was responsible for those? I wanna have your baby), and some lovely new tunes from some Friends that I have nothing but Love L-U-V for. Couldn't think of a better way to spend a Thursday. <3 Happy Birthday Chris! Your party was a doozy! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get ready to go see Dion at the Orleans... yeah, this is how I'm spending my Valentine's Day. Worst. Valentine's Day. EVER!! hahahaha Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... anybody read anything funny on here lately?? LOL Yeah, that little tiff with that homo drummer from the Shittiest Morepenis was beyond ridiculous. "Come at me Braaah!!" hahahahahahahaha Fucking weak I know everyone's just waiting to read my insult filled, tirade of a reply, full of details about what exactly happened, how it went down, who said what, etc., but it's not gonna happen. Nope. I know you'd all love to read me going on and on about how badly Shittiest Morepenis sucks (which they do), or how the idiots at the Limp Dick Cafe are nothing more but lemmings, (which is also true), and yeah, even that plastique, shallow bitch Manager from the Fartifice who went on her little rant on Facebook about me deserves a good calling out too, but it's not gonna happen, Nope. I got better things to do, and those sheeple don't deserve any more attention than they've already gotten out of this. Why, Shittiest Morepenis got a whopping 2 more Likes on their Facebook page because of this, and they actually gave their 161 friends and fans something to talk about and comment on, but you'd never know it because those spineless jellyfish did a nice whitewash on their Facebook profile and removed any and all comments about everything that happened. Can't have that common, very unprofessional trash talk on your Facebook profile when Tony Hsieh's new label comes calling to sign your band up, now can you? hahahaha Fucking Tools. Yeah, like I said, this is about all your gonna get out of me about all the BS that went down. Unless they're stupid enough to keep going with it, that is, but I doubt it... It was fun, it was funny, I'm glad everyone got a kick out of it, especially the Comments section of the review. At the Civilians gig on Sat. it was all the talk of everyone I was running into. Thanx to everyone for coming out and hanging with me and all the well wishes and whatnot. Hey! I ran into the guy who signs off as 'Old Dude' on the Comments page! Very cool. I was annihilated by that point and only have a vague recollection of talking to him, but yeah, he looked like a Raiders fan, and that's cool with me! Yeah, it was THAT kind of night. Holy Shit Ballz!! Fucking DANGERBONER, yes, the almighty Dangerboner played on my Birthday and I was in Bliss and Heaven!! Gawd fucking DAMN were they incredible!! I was standing around when I heard, what I thought was the opening riff / declaration March Of The Motherfuckeroos, and like a moth to a flame I'm drawn to the front of the stage and I see them... just wailing away on some borrowed equipment from the band that played before them, The Rebel Set, who were OK chick rock on Burger Records. Dangerboner was a bit slower, a little bit less manic, but that worked in their favor as the absolute anger and passion just throbbed and oozed from the stage area while they played, and I seriously must of looked like a fool, just standing there and grinning like I was. They played my absolute favorite song by them, "Operation Bloodstorm", and like I said, seeing them play was one of the things that made this Birthday the best one ever. I've been trying to see Dangerboner play ever since they've gotten back together and started playing again, and watching them rage for a much too short of a time was all I needed to make the night complete. Well, not everything I needed, but you get the point. And besides, I still had to play a set with the most hated band in Vegas right now, the Civilians! hahahahaha Once Dangerboner finished, Spotted Dick And The Wylde Knights played. They were OK, but I wasn't paying them too much attention. I heard them singing songs about Lake Havasu and Steve The Liar, and I think they did a 1/2 Ast song, because Paolo jumped up on stage with them and sang along to something... lol People seemed to dig them. I.D.F.I. were up next and they fucking killed it, as always. Bob said they were a bit under the weather, but you would never of known it by how they were acting up on the stage. Did I hear them play an Operation Ivy cover? LOL We played next and it was a pretty good set. Fast but good. Too bad nobody was there to see it! LOL Yeah, The Civilians were filling in for Duane Peters Gunfight, because Duane Peters got arrested the night before on domestic violence charges, so with the Drama with the Fartifice throwing us off the bill, NOT the Promoter (LOL), we were lucky to have a gig to play in the first place. Thanks to Nate and The Dive for letting us play. Sorry about puking in the bathroom... hahaha The night ended as a blur of puking in parking lots, and scarfing down at Blueberry Hill. Nice. Sunday, which was my actual birthday day, was spent on the couch eating cake and ice cream and watching Simpsons for hours on end. Life is good. ;-) *whew* Everything is updated... I think. I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of things... but damned if I can remember any of them now. It'll come to me later. Right now I gotta go get ready for some surprise Birthday party I'm playing tonight for someone who's almost as much of an opinionated asshole as I am... hahahaha First off, here's the Gig Review for the Love Has No Bounds concert @ the Hard Rock Cafe a few days back with The People's Whiskey, The Civilians, and a slew of other bands, and you can click here to check that out.
Second off, here's the Music Review I gave to The People's Whiskey debut full length release, and you can click here to check that out as well. I'm sure Cody is going to crack wise on Facebook about it being soooo late in coming, but that's what happens when I have to pay for it myself! LOL What started out as drunken text talk between friends has turned into something noble for a good cause. To help pay for the pressing of the new Civilians CD, which, BTW, will be available at the gig for you all to buy, Jeremy jokingly said we should hold a raffle, using the prize of him shaving his head on stage as incentive to raise money. We tossed it around for a bit, and then things took a turn for the serious, and now he's gonna shave his head to raise money for a little girl he knows in the St. Baldrick's program, at a Civilians gig @ Bar 702 on Feb. 28th, and you can click here to read all about the effort being put into raising money for her. Although she's already met her appointed goal, we're just gonna keep piling it on because fighting Cancer is an expensive battle. If you can contribute anything, please do, because every little bit helps. And if you can mention The Civilians when you do that, that would be swell, because once The Civilians raise $250, Jeremy's head meets the shaver! :-) Everything is updated. Lots of stuff going on this weekend, and you can click here to read all about everything that's going on. Zack turned in an Interview with Kyle and Tim from Dr. Know, and I'm trying to get as much work done on that before the gig this weekend because, let's face it, if I live to tell the tale, and I'm not incarcerated, I'm gonna need a few days to recover from it, and nothing is going to get done... heh heh Hope you can make it to my Birthday gig on Sat. I'm pretty certain it's going to be one for the record books. ;-) |
