![]() It just gets sadder and sadder every year. How many times can you see the same handful of bands play the same event, playing the same songs from 20+ years ago? Does standing on concrete out in the open under the bright ass sun make the music sound better? Or is it all those $11 beers you buy that make things bearable? How much money is OK to spend in your justification of a good time? $300? $500? How much BS tourist like behaviour will you tolerate in order to see that one band that you like at the crowded club Downtown? What's the draw at this point? Seriously? Nostalgia? The undeniable urge to conform to a non-conformist ideology in a sheep like manner in order to justify your ultra hip cool Punk existence? How much more of your money are you going to give the Stern Bros.? How much is enough? And now the Fat Mike BS. And you all act like you're fucking shocked, which is laughable. Really. I think the funniest part about the whole Fat Mike / Punk Rock Boring hubbub is finding out how many of my friends were members of the Facebook PRB page in the first place... 😆😆😆 Tasteless? Yeah. Poor timing? Certainly. But the mass hysteria over it is laughable. A coked up millionaire cross dressing alcoholic drug addict says something stupid and everyone loses their shit? WTF? Wasn't like this was the first time he's done something stupid, right? I thought it was common knowledge at this point what a dickhead he is - I know I got some stories, and the fact that NOFX can still draw people to their mediocre, boring, more-talking-shit-than-playing-music show is pathetic and perfectly highlights what's wrong with the Punk scene today. Look, there's nobody I'd like to see get shit more than that asshat Fat Mike, but let's tear him apart for all the stupid shit he's said and done before all this (Cokie The Clown anyone?) and not this... lol I guess the lesson here is that Freedom of Speech doesn't excuse you from your responsibility to your words and actions. Having the right to be a irresponsible dick doesn't mean you should be... wait, did I say that?? LOL

For those of you didn't feel like showing up... here's some Headnoise footage, shot by Pastor Rob with his soon to be patented camera / spotlight apparatus, from the Regal Inn gig last week in Lakewood. Ignore the drunken appearance from Karl of Spider / Walk Proud about half way through it... heh
![]() What a fun night! 😀 The Regal Inn is a cool little dive bar holding down the Punk Rock scene in Lakewood, with a great vibe, cheap strong drinks and a wobbly stage that supports some of the better bands gigging around the area right now. I was there for a Headnoise / Decry / The Grim gig, and the place was packed and rowdy - I dug it. Decry were great. Haven't seen them in like a zillion years and they were great to see again. If they had a better drummer they would of been fantastic. Farrell is still one of the best frontmen you'll ever see. Dudes pretty captivating. They played Falling, of course... Suburban Death Camp... and Island Paradise, my favorite song by them which I first heard on some Flipside compilation years ago, and The Grim, holy puck. Those guys were sick. The pit was raging full on while I struggled to snap off some pix during their set. They were killing it. The crowd was loving them. Fun stuff. Haven't seen them since they tore up The Dive Bar back in the days. Then Headnoise played and that was fun. I think we played a few new songs from our upcoming EP as an encore, I dunno, but it was a blast playing, that much I remember. And the freshly made doughnuts right after the gig made the long drive home all that much more easier. Bob slept his drunk ass off all the way home, completely worthless as a co-pilot. Oh well. I'm kinda getting used to pulling into Stateline just as the sun rises and hurts my eyes and I don't know if that's a good thing or not yet. Meh. Sometimes it's worth it, like after a gig like tonight, and other times, I just wanna drive into a brick wall at a high rate of speed just to see if I survive it or not... hahahaha Such is the life of a Punk Rock Drummer... it's always something. 😎 Hey! Here's a new video from Anti-Vision, the only band that seems to be doing anything worth talking about here in the Local scene. It's from their upcoming self titled release on Tiny Dragon Music, a Seattle based label. What? Our Local "Punk" label not good enough for you young whippersnappers or something? 🤣🤣🤣 Anyways, the songs called Skitzo and you can check out the video below. If you're so inclined, you can click here to go to the Tiny Dragon Music Bandcamp page and preorder the release, with the first 100 records available on beautiful clear with splattered green colored vinyl. You can also hear another song from the album there called JD's Revenge: Modern Art In Urban America, so check it out! |
