"I feel sooo old right now."
"Seeing all these kids here makes me feel old." "I have never felt more old than I have at this show tonight." hee hee hee This sentiment seemed to be shared by everyone over the age of oh, I dunno, 25 I'm gonna say, and taking it all in was a bit of a laugh. The highly excitable contingent of Punk kids who came out to make the Guilty By Association 10th Anniversary gig the event that it was had the Vegas music scene Elders feeling every bit of their age apparently! And in that rare as fuck occurrence, I wasn't the oldest guy at the gig! LOL I think all the kids were there to see the opening band Permanent Failure, who were a bunch of young Punx playing some Casualties style of music. They massacred a Bad Religion song, but it was OK because at least it was off of How Could Hell Be Any Worse? LOL Holding Onto Sound are just incredible, and they added a second guitarist to assist in their sonic aural landscape painting. They sounded great and I could watch Vanessa play drums all day. Gawd damn she's good. Battle Born always impress the fuck out of me with their melodic face punches that had the kids inside Yayo losing their shit. They're such a good band it's sickening, and getting to watch Nick play drums is always a treat as well. Seeing Bob heckling him from behind the glass while he played was just an extra treat. ;-) Bingo Billy from Guilty By Association is fun to watch play drums too, and his brand new shiny black DW set was pretty sick sounding. I'd lose the rack though, because racks on drum sets is ghey. ;-) GBA brought the place down to it's knees with a rev'd up animated set that had everyone in the place feeding off of what the band was throwing down and making sure to keep the energy levels in the room maxed out into the dangerous red area, giving the kids something to bash into each other to, and keeping the old people standing off to the side and hiding in the back vying for a better vantage point to take it all in. Watching that guy in the wheelchair wrecking fools in the pit was funny as fuck. Man, it was a fantastic night. Guilty By Association have made it through thick and thin for 10 years, which is no small feat, and they should be commended as such. Anybody who's been in a band for any amount of time can tell you about how tedious and self destructive it is, and the fact that GBA is still here, still Gigging and Touring and Recording, says a whole Hell of a lot about the Love these guys have for the Music they create / play, and the Belief that they all have in the Band. Congrats to Guilty By Association on their 10th Anniversary. Let's hope Tom Jones holds on for another 10 more years! LOL So how about that shooting @ Area 702 this past weekend? Of course, it happened at a Hip-Hop event, naturally. It's just like the Rock all over again. Remember that club the Rock on Maryland Parkway? Yeah, things were going just fine and dandy at that place with live Local music, and as soon as they started putting on those bullshit Hip-Hop and Rap gigs, then the place went to shit and was closed within weeks. Let's hope the same thing doesn't happen @ Area 702. Although I don't go to the gigs there, because most of the bands that play there SUCK, but at least it's an option for kids looking for something to do, in a town where those options are far and few in between. Everything is sort of updated. I gotta go help set up a new P.A.. Later.

I'm gonna avoid commenting on the Roxie / LVCS thing until all is said and done, and the dust has cleared. :-) She was let go because of budget cutbacks. Yeah, that's it, yeah. This is her last week working there. I don't know if this gig is still happening or not, but if it is, you should go. It's for a great cause, and Pigasus has been on fire as of late, so it's gonna be a good gig, that is, if it happens. If it does, look for shenanigans to ensue. I'm glad to know that a few people out there still get their feathers ruffled when I talk shit about bands they like. Really, who gives a shit? Nothing I'm going to say or point out will change your opinion on a band, and your certainly not going to convince me of a shitty bands importance when I know there's nothing there. The Dropkick Murphys can lick my sweaty taint. Leftover Crack is the biggest crock of shit I have ever heard in my Life. They suck, and if you like them, you suck as well. Deal with it. :-)
I haven't been to a gig in months, and I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. Other things take priority, the thrill of seeing bands in a small, stinky club has lost it's appeal. I'm sure all that's gonna change when I get to Yayo Taco this Saturday for that Guilty By Association 10th Anniversary gig that's happening there. Should be a blast. I think I might interview them as well. Who knows. Alarido is playing Saturday as well, at somebody's house. If you can, go check them out. They're pretty sick. Everything is updated. Lots of new stuff added. I threw up the Zeke @ the LVCS recordings I had. Sound is kind of muddy but it's listenable. Enjoy! Hahahahaha... first off, Sorry that I said I was off to see the Uninvited in my last post when I meant to say the Unidentified. When I write this shit, I'm half way whacked out of my gourd, so you'll have to forgive me because mistakes do happen. I blame the pills. :-) Anyways, click on the Unidentified logo to get more info on what the band is up to and when their next gig is. Make sure you Like them as well. I'm kind of bummed that I missed out on the 12 Volt Sex extravaganza that went down @ the Beauty Bar last Saturday, but the appeal of standing around outside in the cold was a major deterrent. I like the band a lot, but not enough to stand around outside waiting for them. And besides, I had a Surprise Birthday party to go to, for Mike from Guilty By Association! hahaha It's always fun trying not to giggle in the dark while waiting for the Birthday boy to come into his house so you can surprise him. Mucho booze was consumed, and many a story was told / shared. Good times. Happy Birthday Sir! I hope you get that Special PBR wish you're hoping for! And speaking of Birthday's... Guess who's Birthday it is today!!! Yeah, that's right... hahahahaha Yup! It's Senor Pitt's Birthday today, and although he looks nothing like this anymore, it's this picture that, to me, best sums up what this Homo is all about... LOL Oh, the Stories I could tell but I won't, because it's all still going on. New chapters are being written every time we get together and do what we do, which usually consists of us hanging out somewhere and talking shop about Music and Bands and shit we got going on. The guy knows his shit, and even though he's a Corporate Whore for the Man now, I still Love him like a Brother. Happy Birthday Pitt, you old Queen! Many Happy Returns Sir! XOXOXOXO So yeah, Punk Rock Bowling. It's got everyone talking, that's for sure. I understand the gripes, I see what the criticism is all about, and I know the good (very little) and the bad (a whole LOT!) of it all but you know what? It doesn't matter, because I'm gonna be there, and you're gonna be there, and that's that. Unless something else comes along more fun to do, then that's my plan for Memorial Day weekend, just as it's yours. Last year I didn't sleep, last year I didn't see 1 band that played, and I didn't give a shit because I was too busy drinking and hanging out with my Friends. I expect it will be much of the same, if not more so, this year, now that PRB isn't happening in Hendertucky this year, thank Gawd. If it wasn't for the Descendents, and maybe Killing Joke, then I wouldn't even be bothering to buy a ticket to get in. Every other band SUCKS or just has no reason being on the bill. Black Pacific? Really? The Krum Bums? Flask And His Flask? Dirty Filthy Mugs? Who's dick did they take in the ass to get on the bill? LOL Maybe it's because most of the bands announced so far have played here in Vegas to like, 10's or sometimes 20's of people that I'm not hyped on seeing them on a big stage from like, thousands of feet away (Citizen Fish @ East Side Joe's: 20 people there. The Dwarves @ Boomer's: 75 people there. Off With Their Heads @ the Bunkhouse: 50 people there) or maybe it's the fact that I saw some of these bands in their prime when they were good, and I can't imagine them getting better with age (Stiff Little Fingers, Cock Sparrer? Really? 3 good songs they have, and that's being generous. The Bouncing Souls? Do people still like them? And don't get me going on how ghey the Dropkick Murphys are, and the Undertones without Feargal Sharkey is just a cover band farce). Personally, I'm hoping that all the Drama that I think is going to ensue @ PRB will happen, with the contingent of loser punk kids who will come out of the woodwork to see craptacular bands like Leftover Crack who will either try to avoid paying to get in, because, let's face it, paying to get into a gig is sooooooooooo not Punk, or the smelly dirt bags will be giving Security their grief, in their never ending quest to Smash the State and Overthrow the Government from the safety of their Mommy and Daddy's house in Green Valley. Fucking Poseurs. So yeah, that's my take on Punk Rock Bowling. It's the 13th Annual. Let's hope it's the last one ever because let's face it, most of you wouldn't even bother attending if it was held out in California, now would you? Of course not. Neither would I.
I have a big announcement at the end of this, something I've been sitting on for about a week now, sworn to secrecy while the details were being worked out. I was told I could announce it on Tuesday, and so I will, right after I spew on about this first. First off, Happy Birthday to the One, the Only, the Sorely Missed on the Tag Board ever since he became sane, the Impeccably Dressed Hollywood Shane, who is now known as New York Shane nowadays, unfortunately. :-( I believe he turns 27 or some shit like that, well, that's what he tells the Trannies down at Washington Square in Greenwich Village anyways. I'm not gonna bore you with Tales of all the times Shane stole my Booze or my Drugs, sometimes doing both on the same night! No, All I'm going to do is wish a very Happy Birthday to a very near and dear friend of mine, that I'm glad is still around for me to tell him things like this: Hee hee hee Happy Birthday Bro! I love you, and I miss you! Try not to get too, too crazy on your Birthday - oh shit, look who I'm telling that too! hahahahahaha XOXOXOXO So yeah, how was everyone's V.D. day? Mines was spectacular! The huge bundle of loot I spent on the holiday was well worth everything I got in return, which is always a good thing. I didn't make it to the Off! gig @ the palms, but I'm not really bummed about it because I don't even like that band, but I wanted to go because I thought it would be an event or some shit like that. I haven't been going to any gigs this year, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. The ones I do plan on going to, like last Thursdays debut gig of The Unidentified @ the LVCS, or the Apocalyptics and the State Streets gig @ Meatheads on Saturday, usually end up with me in my broken down car at the side of the road, waiting for a mechanic or a tow truck to come save my ass. LOL Or something else more interesting comes up, or I decide to get drunk somewhere. I think I'm slipping a bit. I don't care as much as I used to. Maturity? Naaaahh. I know there's a shit load of new bands coming around, and I wanna Interview them and take Pictures of them before they get too big or start hanging out with the wrong people, but I don't really wanna do that because I want to, it's more just for the website. I dunno. I'll figure it out. There's too many good gigs coming up that I wanna check out, like the 12 Volt Sex reunion gig happening this Sat. @ the Beauty Bar. I have always been a sucker for a good hook, and 12 Volt Sex songs had them by the bucketful!!! I still listen to their stuff - most of it still holds up. Yeah, that gig is going to be fun. Hope to see a bunch of old Las Vegas heads turn out for that one. Who watches the Grammy's nowadays? Didn't they lose credibility like, when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica in Best Heavy Metal Band category? LOL I was a bit taken back by the many people I know, who's musical taste and knowledge I revere and respect, being concerned with it's outcome or participants in any way, shape or form. Who the Hell are Arcade Fire and who cares? Gee, the Best New Artist has been releasing albums for 6 years now - who gives a shit? I'm glad I don't keep up on current things in music. I don't even hear shit like Cee-Lo, Keisha or Rihanna unless I'm in a strip club. Heard Lady Gaga there for the first time too. That craptacular music should stay in strip clubs, where it's the perfect fodder for some ho-bag to rub her vajeen on your crotch, infecting you and making you a Carrier for whatever neglected disease that particular 'Entertainer' is inflamed with this week. Strip clubs - you gotta love 'em! You know I do. Besides that 12 Volt Sex gig, there's a bunch of good gigs happening soon. Friday's that Joe Buck Yourself Rockasilly thing happening @ the LVCS, then on Saturday if you don't go to the 12 Volt Sex thing, you could always head off to the Double Down to see the Black Jetts and Left Unattended rock that toilet, or see the Quitters and Nothing With Numbers guys fuck shit up @ the LVCS. If none of that appeals to you, then TheCore are playing @ the Cheyenne Saloon that night as well! Too many choices, and all too far apart. Phooey. Sunday's got Less Than Jake and Off With Their Heads are at the House of Boooooooo's, and then Monday Ministry Of Love is headlining Area 702 over a bunch of bands with some of the shittiest names EVER!! And for you Old School Hessians out there, Death Angel is playing @ the Cheyenne Saloon. Death Angel... cool guys. Haven't seen them since I played a gig with them @ the Country Club in Reseda with Possessed and Sacred Reich! hahahaha The 80's... what were we thinking? LOL Fun times then, fun times now. Get off your ass and get to some gigs! There's waaaaaaay too much to do to wanna stay home.
Oh, and that big announcement thing I was talking about... Descendents are playing Las Vegas in May downtown in front of the El Cortez - GET HYPED!!! :-) I just wanted to say Thank You Thank You Thank You THANK YOU!! to Jesse and Roxie and Little Jesse and Captain Jesse and any other Jesse's I might have missed yesterday and everybody else who was at the Hotel Amoroso for all the Super Bowl / Birthday Party shenanigans. Man, those Blue Hawaiian's packed quite a punch, that's for sure. I woke up feeling like I had been mouth raped by Punchy the Hawaiian Punch mascot while I was passed out on the beach in Waikiki, or something like that… hahaha. And as for the game itself, well, at least it wasn't boring. To see the Packers jump to that 21–3 lead in the first quarter must of been painful for all of my Steelers friends to watch. I know it was because before the game started, they were all running their mouths pretty loud, and then… there was nothing but silence to every single text message I sent them… hahahahaha Realistically, Rapethlisberger COULD of won it at the end if he didn't choke while running the 2 minute drill. Seeing him cry at the end of the game made me chub up a bit… hahahaha oh well. The Game became moot at one point because of those damn Blue Hawaiian's I was drinking. And as you can see by this picture here, they were as good looking as they were delicious. MmMmmmmmmmMmmm That bowl was empty before the game was over! LOL Fun time indeed.
I haven't much time right now really, for Part 2 of the Birthday celebrations is about to start. There's some cool gigs coming up, but I don't know what any of them are right now, but everything is updated, so go to the Gig Calendar page and see what's going on. Thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone! It's very appreciated. Happy Groundhog's Day! To commemorate this momentous occasion of Punxsutawney Phil NOT seeing his shadow, I would like to start out with a poem, brought to you courtesy of a tee shirt being worn by Paris Hilton, of all people... heh heh heh
Never fall in Love with an Evil woman. You will give her your Heart and she will never return it. And for the rest of your Life you will be incurable, A lost Romantic unable to ever fall in Love again. I don't know why that struck such a chord with me, but it did. I'm going to go listen to Valerie Loves Me by Material Issue on repeat now... hahaha NOT! Just thought it was a cool poem. Where was this good advice when I needed it? LOL Hey! Today is HANK!'s Birthday! Many happy returns to you today Sir! He's still the creepiest guy I've ever met, and I love his white trash ass to Death! To say that Hank is just awesome is like saying that masturbating behind a bus stop is just awesome, or like saying that counting change in the dark in a hotel room full of your friends is just awesome, or like saying that growing up in a tool shed is just awesome. hahahahaha If you haven't already, go to Hank's Facebook page by clicking here and wish him a Happy Birthday. Come on - He'd do the same for you... heh heh heh If you're feeling brave you can go punch him in the nuts at the Huntridge Tavern tonight - that's where one of his many, I'm sure, Birthday parties is happening at. The second Birthday party that I know of for Hank is happening this Sunday @ the Hotel Amoroso. It's a Hawaiian themed shindig, which means that Hank will be getting porked in the backyard, and where he will be getting lei'd in the front room if he's lucky. ;-) It's also MY Birthday party as well, so stop by if you know where it's at or ask someone to let you in on it. Oh yeah, the Super Bowl will be going on in the background, so that just means that it's gonna be an extra crazy rager. See ya there, although I probably won't remember it. :-) Everything is updated. Monster Zero is playing with the Phantom Rockers @ the LVCS tomorrow, the Reverend Horton Heat is @ the HOB on Friday, TheCore and Save Amos are @ the Cheyenne Saloon on Saturday, and Life's Torment and S.M.D. are playing @ Yayo Taco that night as well, and Unfair Fight is @ the Box Office. It's gonna be a fun weekend. :-) |
