Pssssssssstttt... I don't know if you know this yet, but there sure are A LOT of goofy looking ass clowns in town this weekend for some 50's Gathering of the Sheep festival or some shit, so if you see some putos rolling hard in their mommy's Hyundai, looking like they're heading to a Happy Days casting call, well, try to resist the urge to laugh. ;-) ![]() Hey! I know I've been slacking on getting shit done on here, but you see this ugly fucker in the picture next to me? That's my buddy Will, aka Willano, when he was the singer of a Local band called Pyst and a writer of the Spill The Blood column in the Las Vegas Music Scene magazine that was run by Chris and Janet Vener here for a while, matter of fact, the office used to occupy the space that Pussycat Tattoos currently inhabits, but anyways, I digress. Will is visiting in town this week, on his way from moving from Arkansas to Seattle - why Seattle I don't know - but that's what him and his lovely wife Annie are doing, so I've been hanging out with him partying and grubbing and getting tattooed. Will hasn't been in Vegas since 1997, and needless to say, a Roberto's run was one of the first things we did! hahaha I missed the fucker, to say the least, and it was awesome catching up with him. So yeah, that's why the website has been slacking this week. Just like back in the day, I blame Will for everything! LOL Love ya Bro! Best of luck up there in Seattle! :-) Not there isn't anything non-Viva related to go to this weekend, nope. There's this sick ass gig with Demon Lung and Occultation @ Favorites on Sat., but of course I'm gonna be @ the Bunkhouse to see the Seriouslys, Tinglerz, and the Gears. <3 Then on Sun. N.J.'s very own Hudson Falcons stop by for their annual visit to Las Vegas to play their Punk Rock songs about the Working Man. The Civilians are opening. It should be a fun weekend. Hope to see you around somewhere. :-)

![]() Sat. was a pretty good day. The get together @ Clay's house for his Birthday BBQ - Thank You celebration was the shit! The food was exquisite, all put together by his better half Denise and all the other girls who were pitching in to help out, and there wasn't any cake, booooooo, but there was an amazing tray of cookies and pastries in the kitchen that was close enough and, I believe, hand made! :-) Their house is impressive, and it's exactly the type of house you'd think someone like Clay and Denise would live in, which is the highest compliment I can give. There's a laundry room / bar in the basement, which is where I took that picture, and even the soundproofed band room has a bar in it. I think every room in the house had a bar in it, but I'm not really sure. It was just good vibes all around, with good old Friends in attendance, including Frank, who used to run Balcony Lights when he lived here. He lives in Portland now, and it was good seeing him and catching up. I hated leaving the party early, but I wanted to see Unfair Fight @ Hellpop!, so I reluctantly did, and it was definitely worth the effort. I got there just in time to see Unfair Fight just fucking kill it, and they pretty much did it before a crowd of kids who couldn't of cared less; more content to drink their Steel Reserve then to watch the band play. Whatever. I sat through the next 2 bands that played, Morbid Faith and The Time Crashers, in an utter state of disgusted disbelief as they just sucked and sputtered and fucked up and stop and started and stupidly played their way through one half hour set of Embarrassment right after another, and the kids ate it up! LOL Wow it was bad. I haven't seen such acts of atrociousness and dreadfulness in quite a long time. I couldn't stop watching it was so bad. The kids were having fun though, so I guess that's all that counts. After awhile I couldn't take the suckiness of it all anymore, so with Bob in tow (of course), I headed elsewhere in search of Fun for the evening, where we found it @ the Beijing Spa & Massage, but that's another story for another time. ;-) Everything is updated! Lots of Pictures added to the website, including the pix of Ainjil's and Dave's Baby Shower, The Rocky Horror Picture Show presentation @ Artifice, and Battle Born playing @ Backstage Bar & Billiards. Go to the Pictures page by clicking here to check them all out. They're not as good as they should of been, because my camera was acting up big time, but whatever. I do what I do for me, not you! It's gonna be a great week... I just knows it. ![]() What a seriously great gig! :-) It was a pretty good turnout with lots of friendly faces in attendances, and nothing but good times and smiles everywhere. That's always nice to see. And the bands, oh man, all the bands were on their game! I was glad I made the effort to drag my ass Downtown to check things out. Right after band practice I changed out of my wet, stinky clothes and into some dry, stinky clothes and arrived @ Hellpop! just in time to catch Nü Sensae putting on a dazzling display of Punk Rock yumminess that was easily the highlight of the evening. I'm pissed I missed out on as much of their set as I did. I'm pissed I missed out on the Pluralses as well, but I kind of knew that was gonna happen because of band practice. Nü Sensae were terrific. Immediately after their set I bought everything they had available, but their merch person sucked. Fullerton's very own Audacity had that catchy OC Pop Punk sound down to perfection, dual vocals included, and they were fucking cool to watch. Me likey. Lenguas Largas, with their triple drum/percussion aural assault, came off a lot better live than they do on record, that's for sure. Did they have a bass player among those 5 guitarists on stage? I dunno. If I would of known beforehand that they were a Razorcake band, I probably would of left before they played... LOL But seriously, they were great. Yeah, it was a fun evening, and if you missed it you blew it. No biggie though. I'm sure you'll all go see the same bands play when they're on the Punk Rock Posing stage, because then it will be cool to do so... heh Tonight! Go see The Fat Dukes Of Fuck and The Seriouslys play @ the Double Clown. They're playing with some band called Truck Bitch that they both seem to be hyped about. Tomorrow night it's all about Unfair Fight with the Time Crashers, Slow Children and some band called Morbid Faith, all playing @ Hellpop! comics. S.F.T. and Three Chord Radio @ Favorites too. What are you doing sitting 'round at home? Get up and GO!!
Free time? What's that? LOL In between incessant girls demanding that I watch their videos the instant they post them, or the constant Skyping, or people popping in to see and hear what I'm working on, or band practice, which, although I'm taking it easy with that because of my leg, is still a bit of a drain, with all that going on, I really don't have time for shit! Although I'm only in 4 active bands at this moment, they're all in a spirit of Creativity right now, which has me both brain drained and physically wiped out. Then I spend hours and hours on end mixing and remixing stuff I record at these band practices, trying to get the best sound I can out of what I'm given to work with, staring at the florescent green glow of the Adobe Audition workspace until my eyes bleed and I'm tone deaf from hours of listening to the same thing over and over and over again. Then I have to break them up into MP3's and post and share them with the bands so that we can work on and expound upon these ideas and bring them to fruition. And then the cycle starts anew. I try to sneak in a gig or a hang sesh with Friends and whatnot when I can, but that's waaaaay too far and in between happenings to be comfortable for me. Whew! Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but it's just that with all this going on, the website kind of suffers by being relegated to the bottom of the totem pole of Importance. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.I think I need a vacation. Hawaii or Seattle? Hmmmmmmmm... I bought a bag of oranges from some Mexican street vendor last week, and I've been eating them non stop ever since. Best oranges I've eaten in a long ass time. :-) ![]() Hey! Neon Reverb is in town, and I could give a fuck less. Fredward is playing the kickoff thing tonight @ the Bunkhouse with Silver Snakes and the Marquees, so if you're in the mood for some Downtown carousing, then stop by and see what's up. Those 2 tracks the band does on that Cash For Clay compilation are cool. If you haven't heard that collection of Local musical greatness, then please click here and grab yourself a copy post haste. Tomorrow night your new favorite band the Pluralses are playing with a band called Lenguas Largas @ Hellpop! comics, and if I'm feeling up to it after band practice, I may just stop by. Friday night Fuzz SoLow is playing the Clydesdales CD release party @ the Bunkhouse, Brendan from Deadhand's beardcore project Mercy Music is having his CD release party @ the Beauty Bar on Sat., playing with Old Man Markley (ugh), and Sun. Milk Music is headlining a 2 stage blow out going down @ the Beauty Bar on Sunday. And that's about it for Neon Reverb. The rest of it can go fuck off. ![]() But it isn't like there's nothing else going on this weekend that isn't Neon Reverb related. Nope! There's plenty going on, and it's a varied grab bag of stuff to do. Tomorrow night is the Shotguns & Gasoline CD release party @ the LVCS with Shotguns & Gasoline and the Quitters, that should be pretty cool. Fri. there's a killer gig @ the Double Clown with the Fat Dukes Of Fuck and the Seriouslys, who, just like Fredward, have a couple of great songs on that Cash For Clay compilation I was talking about earlier. Have you bought it yet? If you haven't, shame on you! Then on Sat. Slow Children , from Riverside, CA. is playing with Unfair Fight and the Randoms, who I'm pretty sure are not THEE Randoms who sang the classic Dangerhouse single Let's Get Rid Of New York, but you never know. ;-) It doesn't matter because I'm going to be there regardless, and so should you. If you're not, you should go see the return of S.F.T., who are playing with Three Chord Radio, who feature Cody from The People's Whiskey, @ Favorites. So you see, there's lots of stuff going on this weekend musically, so choose wisely and get off your ass and have some fun! :-) I'm so glad to hear nothing but great things about that house party gig last night with Unfair Fight and Nomads and some other bands I can't recall right now. No Drama, and lots of people turned out. Good Friends. Good times. That's how it's supposed to be. :-) Oh, and some band full of Wankers and Poofs played last night too, but none of my Friends or acquaintances were stupid or lame enough to go to that farce. Oh wait... yeah they did. How Sad. See what I did there? ;-) And I didn't hear a thing about the Guttermouth show, which is either a good thing or a bad thing. Gotta love this City. No wonder Punk Rock Posing does so well here... heh
Speaking of PRP, they announced the bands playing the sacred Club shows last night, and seeing the line up had me barfing back up my oatmeal this morning. Luckily, oatmeal looks the same before or after throwing it up, so I just mixed it in with what I had left in the bowl and kept eating. Yeah, for those of you who don't see the direction this so-called "Punk" festival is heading in, then you're either ignorant, blind, or stupid, or maybe a combo of all 3. Could someone tell me why Suedehead is playing? An O.C. Pop band? WTF? Or Cashed Out, a Johnny Cash cover band? Seriously? The Untouchables? Really? Fuck off with that poseur one hit wonder shit. And I love Wanda Jackson but seriously, this is supposed to be Punk Rock Posing, not that Viva Rockasilly shit. Is she that desperate for a hipper audience now? Who thought it was a good idea for her to be playing PRP for an audience that, A) doesn't know who she is, and B) could give a shit less? I guess shilling for Jack White will make you do strange and embarrassing things like that. Oh well. And, just like last year, the Beardcore is getting their own special night as well. How cute... fuckwads. In my haste to post something yesterday, I neglected to mention a few things that were added to the website lately. Uhhhhmmm, let's see, I posted up a bunch of Pictures recently, all of them taken @ the LVCS - go figure. The Guilty By Association photos can be seen by clicking here. I didn't get too many shots off because I had to go set up my drum set, so sorry guys. The photos I took of Mersa can be seen by clicking here. I dig those kids a lot. And the photos of I.D.F.I. can be seen by clicking here. I wrote up a Music Review for that Cash For Clay compilation that just came out recently, and you can click here to read it. There's probably more stuff to mention but I don't remember any of it right now... heh Tonight! Instrumentalfest '13 @ Money Plays. Go check out the Bitters. I'll probably be at Scarlett if I don't just stay in altogether. Gotta be well rested for St. Patty's Day shenanigans don't ya know! Everyone and their Mom is gonna be @ the Pennywise / Anti-Flag show @ the House of Booooo's tonight, and that's just sad beyond belief. Flat brimmed hats are mandatory. If you're up early and find yourself out in Hendertucky for some gawd forsaken reason, the Civilians will be playing that festival thing going on out there, so check them out and support a band that deserves it. If you wanna work off some of that corned beef and cabbage you gorged yourself on, head down to Motor City Cafe and see F.S.P. and Last Rites tear shit up later that afternoon. Should be a cool gig. Try not to break a hip... ;-) |
