First off, it's Birthday time! Happy Happy Birthday to my beautiful Niece Bonnie! Best wishes to you on this, your special day. I hope you have the bestest day EVER!! XOXOXO If any of you are in the northern part of town, please stop by Whiskey Dicks tonight and give her a big hug for me. I would but I got practice tonight. :-( And secondly, go to this gig tonight at the Bunkhouse! I know it's a Tuesday night but come on, you can DVR Sons Of Anarchy and watch it when you get Home. The Local support is amazing, and Reno Divorce are some really nice guys. I did a gig with them in Denver and afterwords we all ended up in the hotel room doing grown up activities with each other. Like I said, they're nice guys and you should check them out. If you like Social Distortion, the Smithereens, or any other real Rock And Roll bands like them who's names may or may not start with the letter 'S', then you'll like Reno Divorce, I promise you. Their Facebook page is here. Their website is here. The Local support is intense (Guilty By Association, Surrounded By Thieves and I.D.F.I.), so get off your as and Support Local Music! Me? I can't be bothered to... heh heh

I did my best not to get involved with it anymore than I did. I flamed the trolls on Facebook. I fought the urge to publicly lambast this farcical event on here, out of fear of giving it any credibility or unwarranted publicity it wasn't do. No one I talked to about it 'got it', and the only ones who feigned enthusiasm about the gig were the idiot sycophantic bands who were enthused about playing it. Nirvana got their own individual tribute night. So did the Pixies. But these 3 bands, the Ramones, Blondie, and the Clash, apparently don't warrant such an accolade, and they're all crammed together on one shared bill in a colossal display of impertinence and indignity. Le sigh. I'm glad everyone had fun. I'm glad you all had a good time. You should all be ashamed of yourselves... heh heh Well, the Raiders did better against the Falcons yesterday than I thought they would. Bad offensive play calling and piss poor defensive schemes by the Coaching staff led to our downfall, as well as the return of our boneheaded penalty laden play led to our downfall. Oh well. Nothing to be ashamed of. We went against an undefeated team, playing them at home, and we almost won. I think that's pretty cool. :-) OK - it's Monday - got lots of stuff to do and lots of time to do it. Busy week ahead. Look for lots of stuff to go up here. I've been slacking, I know. She's worth it though. Go to this gig tomorrow night @ the Bunkhouse. It's a killer line up of Local talent (Guilty By Association, Surrounded By Thieves, I.D.F.I.) and if you like Social Distortion, you'll LOVE Reno Divorce. Just keep an eye on your bag of coke and you'll be fine! ;-) If you haven't heard by now, then you're not Family or one of my True Friends, so suck it.
I'm too busy having fun and enjoying Life to be bothered right now. Everything is updated. There's new stuff added but I'll tell you about it later. Right now, I'm gonna go back to listening to Public Enemy and not giving a fuck about anything. :-) It's probably a little bit too late for this, but Deadhand is playing tonight at the Beauty Bar with some bands called Candy Warpop and the Screaming Females who are apparently a big deal Punk Rock band, but I never heard of them but whatever. Any excuse to see Deadhand play is always a good one, so yeah, go check out this gig tonight if ya can. The Screaming Females Wikipedia page is here, and the Facebook event page for the show tonight is right here. A lot of chicks sure seem to be hyped on this gig, which has me a bit skeptical on it, but whatever. Girls can have good taste in music too, right? Right? Hello? Anyone? ha ha ha And I apologize for the crappy quality of the flyer below. I just got it this morning when I woke up, aka 6 pm for you weak humans out there, so I didn't have time to find a better quality one. I hate the Beauty Bar, I really do. They never promote anything unless it involves some half a fag with an iPod that thinks he's a DJ. Whatever. That whole dipshit Downtown dooshbag display of mediocrity can go die. Seriously. So yeah, if you read this, and it's before 9 pm tonight, go see Deadhand tear that place a new one. Their new material is fantastic. <3
What a fantastic weekend. Friday night at the Copa was for the girlfriends. <3 The only thing I have to say about yesterday's Raiders game can be found here: Fire Greg Knapp Facebook page. What a fucking farce. Saturday night's Unfair Fight EP release show was a huge success. A nice assemblage of Local talent were in attendance to observe the band just slay everyone in the place with one mighty swoop of their musical axes, with Liz punctuating the perfect ending to their set by smashing her pink bass into pieces on the concrete floor, but not before she smashed up a huge TV set that was set up directly in front of the band. It was stenciled with some Punk Rock sloganeering, and the guys in the band were using it as a pulpit of sorts to elevate themselves and to better reach the crowd. Unfair Fight had the crowd eating out of the palms of their hands from the first note on, and at one point in their set they had the cutest, pull-at-you-heart-strings-adorable moment of little kids that were like 10 and under, and they were circle pitting screaming their heads off and causing havoc, all with tremendous smiles on their faces. I would of loved to have gotten a photo of it, but my camera crapped out a few songs into their set, but that was OK because it allowed me to just lay back and enjoy the music, and man did they sound great! Liz is a perfect fit and the band was playing a shitload of new material, starting off their set with all 3 songs from their brand new release called We Are The Dead. They also did some covers, and I'm not sure but I think I heard them play some Give 'Em Hell songs - Nice! :-) It was an amazing set from Unfair Fight and if you weren't there you blew it big time. Show Review to follow forthwith. Everything is updated and new stuff added. Karl Bakla wrote a Show Review for the Cobra Skulls, Holding Onto Sound, The People's Whiskey and The Seriouslys gig @ the Bunkhouse last week, and you can click here to check that out. I also just added those Pictures I took of Battle Born playing Favorite's a few weeks back, and you can click here to check those out. Rise Against and The Gaslight Anthem are playing tonight. Look for them to be doing an acoustic set soon on that other 'Punk' website. ;-) Big Red has a gig going on tomorrow night @ Yayo Taco featuring Inter Arma (click here for their Facebook page), Lotus, Toxic Artillery and Morbid Faith, so if you're looking for something to do on Tuesday check that shit out. Or go Downtown and be a Hipster Dooshbag, what do I care? On Weds. The Swamp Gospel is playing with the Johnson Creek Stranglers @ the Bikini Bar, so I might go check that out, since it's right down the street from me. And then, of course, on Saturday, it's the big Guttermouth, Queers, Guilty By Association, Surrounded By Thieves, Happy Campers, Hard Pipe Hitters, Grocery Store Rejects and Lambs To Lions gig @ the Bunkhouse. 3 of those bands don't belong on that bill, and I'll leave it up to you to figure out which ones they are. ;-) Monica and I will be in attendance at that gig, looking to make our ex's feel awkward by our very presence there so please, if any of you psycho ex's see us there, please entertain the notion of coming up to either one of us and trying to engage in an exchange of witty barbs because you know we both love that oh so very much! hahaha Yeah, it's gonna be a good week... |
