I'm playing a gig out of state where I only have to drive an hour to get home afterwards? Well count me in!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 Yeah, my brothers in arms in Guilty By Association needed a drummer to fill in at this killer Dickies / D.I. / The Pugilistics / Sheiks Of Neptune gig going on at Lazy Harry's out in Bullhead City, AZ, and since I had absolutely nothing else going on band wise, I took the time to dust off all the songs I knew by them and squeeze a few rehearsals in with the guys before heading off down the 95 to the gig on Labor Day weekend. I'm not sure how, but Bob and I somehow wound up running late, so we completely missed the Sheiks Of Neptune and we got there just as The Pugilistics were raging through their set. I like those guys. Got a cool 7" from them the last time I played a gig with them with the Vegascendents a while back, and so I rushed inside to take some pics before having to set my kit up because we were next. I like playing with GBA. Their songs sound great when played by a fast, hard hitting drummer... heh We played pretty good all things considered. Like riding a bike... 😉 D.I. were up after us and they are always good, and they bring it hard every time, sounding nice and tight from their recent excursion to Europe. Nothing new, same set of classic punk tunes you'd expect to hear from D.I., you know and love them all. I wasn't gonna stay for The Dickies, who were on after D.I., but something told me to, so I staked out a good vantage point to the side of the stage and just watched the band rip through a great set of tunes, playing some songs I haven't heard them play for years! They were a guitar player short for some reason but still sounded good. I stayed for the majority of their set an was reminded of why I love The Dickies as much as I do. Such fun! My back was killing me, and so was my knee, and Bob and I had what might possibly have been the shittiest Mexican food I've ever eaten in my life on the ride home, but you know what? It was all worth it. I love playing Lazy Harry's - my friend Wez works sound there, and I enjoy seeing good bands at places like that than at some BS House of Boooooo's place or some lame ass Punk Rock Boring type of setting... phooey!
