Tonight @ Cowtown Guitars, in celebration of Bike Week, what that is or what kind of bikes they're talking about I don't know, but Roxie is throwing this fantastic little shindig tonight, complete with bands, booze, beards and bikes, I assume, and I don't wanna be anywhere near the thing when it goes down. What's wrong with me?? LOL The bands playing don't have anything to do with it, but they don't help. What bands you ask? Well... waaaaaaaaay down towards the bottom of the flyer, you can read that "Punk Legends" M.I.A. are playing, fresh off of their recent command performance in Cedar City, UT., but I never really liked them that much anyways, so yeah, doesn't help. I don't like Naked Raygun that much either, so sue me. I never got why Las Vegas natives called M.I.A. a Vegas band, because they weren't - they were an O.C. band. I seen them a jillion times opening at gigs in LA/OC, but never playing one here in town. Maybe I'm not that cool? I dunno. M.I.A. abandoned Vegas to try and "make it" in the music scene in California, which, I guess, isn't a bad thing, but still, I always flinch a little when I see them labeled as a Vegas band. Whatever. Even the bands Facebook page lists their home town as Costa Mesa (via Las Vegas), so there ya go! LOL The Swell, where M.I.A. originated from, were a Vegas band. M.I.A. were not, but whatever. History lesson is over. You can all wake up and go to lunch now. :-) Anyways, M.I.A. is playing this party tonight, so if you wanna rock out to such classics as Boredom Is The Reason or Murder In A Foreign Place, then you needs to be here tonight. Hot, cool, new band The Sonic Saints are also playing, along with everyone's favorite retro rockers Crazy Chief, so roll out, support, and take lots and lots of selfies, because Skater Bob loves seeing them! LOL Regan Youth @ the Dive last night... *barf* I hate that I missed that Bob Mould gig @ the Bunkhouse on Tues. It sounded like it was amazing. Hearing people rave about him playing Hüsker Dü songs though is a bit unsettling. Yeah, it sux that he kind-of HAS to play them, so, were you really THAT surprised? And not only was it the record release party for Mercy Music, it was also their Tour kick off show, as their currently a few days in to a multiweek run. Good Luck Guys! You're gonna need it! hahaha Someone took video that night of them playing their Hillbilly tinged tune called Fine, from their brand spanking new release called When I Die, I'm Taking You With Me, and I posted it right below here. Everything's updated. Speaking of things and bands from days of yore, I found some old pix recently and added them to the website, purely for reference point only, because they're not very good, but they're fun to look at if you were there, and they're pictures of Manic Hispanic @ Pink-E's for Punk Rock Bowling (when it was FUN!) back in 2005, and you can click here to check them out. I also posted some photos of Dirty Sanchez that were taken @ the Emergency Room back in 2006, and you can click here to check those out. Is that a young Brian from S.F.T. front and center? LOL A year and a month later, apparently it was all about seeing that D.I. / Give 'Em Hell / Six Shooters To The Sky gig @ the University Theater (remember that place?), and the pictures of D.I. playing can be seen by clicking here. I have their set on videotape somewhere. At least I think I still do... Sunday, Sham 69, The Civilians, Brutal Resistance, The Psyatics, Water Landing, the Dive - see ya there!! :-)
