I forget how it started. OK, not really, but the band that brought this particular discussion up is not worth mentioning, but anyways, in passing I mentioned to Jesse & Roxie about this Squid Hat Records Showcase thing, and they reacted with mouths agape and eyes wide open, a look of surprise on their collective faces. For those of you that don't know, this is what I was telling them about. It was posted to the onethirtyeight.org Facebook page on Friday.
SQUIDHAT RECORDS SHOWCASE WEEKEND. BANDS WANTED!
To celebrate our 1st Birthday, SquidHat records is looking for the next great Vegas band to add to our roster.
We'll be hosting a two night showcase show on January 25 and 26, 2013 and submissions are open NOW.
We have room for six bands, three each night, and each night will be headlined by a current SquidHat Records artist; The Dirty Panties or The Gashers.
How can you get your band on the bill? Simply visit our Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/SquidHatRecords, and post a link to your music along with a note telling us why you’d like to be a part of this historic showcase.
This is NOT a hokey “Battle of the Bands”. The SquidHat Records management team will review all submissions and select six bands to perform at the event. If you’re a great band, with great songs, you’ll definitely be considered. We will check out every band that posts on our page and announce our selections no later than January 1st,2013.
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Submissions are open now so post your music at www.Facebook.com/SquidhatRecords and get in on it!
If you know of a great Vegas band get them to submit. Help spread the word!
Now, obvious criticism aside, this isn't really that bad of a thing. I think the whole concept of Record Labels is antiquated, but whatever. Some bands are too fucking lazy and too fucking self-indulgent to do things for themselves, and thus they must rely on others to do the things they could easily do themselves if they wanted to. BTW, I'm not talking about any bands in particular, or am I? Hmmmm. ;-) Anyways, after a quick band huddle, a few phone calls and text messages, a plan was hatched, and things were put in motion to make that plan happen. It's an idea that's been toyed with for awhile now, for better or for worse, and using acquired knowledge, established connections, and resources at hand that are now available that weren't back then, we figure it's as good a time as any to announce that The Loud Pipes are getting back together to irritate the shit out of you and to make you all worry with nervous anticipation as to what's going to happen next. We're coming to wreck the party and remind you of the Power of Punk Rock N Roll. This shit's going trilateral in every direction in every available format. It's gonna blow up big time, I can assure you of that. The Loud Pipes Rock N Roll Nightmare Train is about to make another fun run to Hell and back, and you don't wanna miss it. Boarding on Track 138, of course, so all of you better get your ass on board. To add some fuel to the fire that makes this machine run, if you could go to the Squid Hat Records Facebook page by clicking here and letting the powers that be there know that you wanna see The Loud Pipes play their showcase, that would be splendid. I mean, after all, it's supposed to be about the best band in Vegas, right? The next great band, right? Well, The Loud Pipes fit that criteria to a 'T'. I think we'd be a splendid addition to the Squid Hat Records roster, but to make that happen, we need people to go to the Squid Hat Records Facebook page and post up and tell them it would be nice to have The Loud Pipes play this showcase. It's grass roots people. We always relied on our Friends to help us out back then, and today is no different. Blow that page up and demand to see The Loud Pipes play. I can assure you with the utmost sincerity that you want to see us play this gig. Seriously. :-) Official announcement coming forthwith. Forget the Truth - Accept your Curse.
