😎I don't even know where to begin. I think the picture of Trueland says it all about what a great night it was. 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 Fucking thanks to The Real McKenzies for being such nice, accessible, fun guys to play a gig with and share drinks with. Maybe it was the love of kilts shared between fellow vocalists? I dunno, but it definitely made things much more enjoyable than it deserved to be on a Weds. night in Downtown Las Vegas. And they apparently just fell victim to the rash of bands getting their merch and gear ripped off as of late, which sucks, because they definitely didn't deserve that bad karma... or maybe they do, I dunno, I just met them... heh heh Had never seen or heard a thing from the band until last night. I was pretty impressed. They drew huge on a midweek school night, with all sorts of people who wouldn't ordinarily come out for a gig on a weeknight coming out to see the band - even Tyson! ha ha ha Mohawk Carlos from Lean 13 of course was flakey like pie crust and didn't show up, after bugging me to get him in for free, so I put him on the guestlist as Satan+1! 😂😂😂 Ahhhhhhh, it didn't matter. It was a great time, except for that opening band A Burden On Society only playing a 10 minute set. What jackass thought they would be a good add to the bill? LOL They should stick to Eastside backyard gigs where mediocrity and unprofessionalism reign supreme. Because of their musical shortcomings, The Civilians got an extra long set and we took full on advantage of it. Major flaws, we didn't do our Guns N' Roses cover, people were screaming out for songs we hadn't rehearsed but you know what? It was soooooooooo much fun! I think we did great and I couldn't of been more proud to see Jeremy, Trueland and Jeff's happy faces during the set. It's what I put up with all the BS for, these indescribable special onstage moments with my friends. If you know, you know, if you don't, you never will. 😎 Like I said earlier The Real McKenzies were fantastic. Somebody told me the last time they played Vegas was at some Punk Rock Boring pool party a few years ago, which would explain why the draw was so strong on a Weds. night for this seminal Celtic Punk Rock band from Canada that the Dropkick Murphys ripped off big time apparently. Aggressive, energetic, well played sing-song Punk Rock tunes perfectly made for drinking along to. I dug them. I was relaxing on the side of the stage thoroughly enjoying the show when my nephew Jesse, who now works at the Beauty Bar, called me inside to do Jamesons shots with him, something that he said he's been waiting his whole life to do with me - awwwwww!! ❤ After that it was just a mess of booze and more shots served by Danny, freshly back from Buffalo or Canada or wherever his gypsy ass travelled to, inside the bar while the band raged on outside. Nothing better than a good BS session with people you've known for a long time and almost all of their lives! LOL It was a great night. Anytime you can't remember how you got home is a good time, right? 😁
