And that makes three!! ha ha When I was first asked about jamming with Headnoise, I almost didn't hesitate. Almost. Robert and Edie are 2 near and dear friends that I have known since they both were in high school, and with all the things that Robert and I have been through and done together, one of those things we've never done together was make music. He's a bassist, I'm a drummer, seems like a no brainer, right? Yeah it does, but the 300 or so miles in between us was definitely something to take into consideration. But I said "fuck it - life's a risk carnal" and made the effort to get my ass to California almost every weekend for Headnoise band practice. I'm a sucker for a band with good music, and everyone knows I'm a drum whore, so yeah... it all paid off big time after we finished up our first gig last Sat. @ the House of Rebellion, a cool squat type youth fellowship type of house on top of a mountain in the middle of burro country in Moreno Valley. The congratulatory words and loving turnout was cool and all, but seeing Rob & Edie beaming in the spotlight after the gig was what made all the BS worth it. All the traffic, the bad food, shitty hotels, speeding tickets, sleepless nights, missed Raiders games, everything. It was all worth it just for that moment seeing them two like that, surrounded by friends and family who were welcoming them back to the Christian Punk Rock music scene (Headnoise hasn't played a gig in over 6 years). According to the Punk Rock Bible itself Razorcake, Christian Punk Music is on the rise again. Who knew? But anyways, standing around lurking in the shadows, listening as people chatted up Edie and Rob, sharing war stories with them, reminiscing about past gigs they played with them, and telling them how good the band sounded now, made all the small pains in the ass tolerable. It was cool stuff. I'm enjoying being in the band, and I'm looking forward to the next gig we play. Isn't the beginning of a relationship the bast part? <3
