What a great weekend!! Friday night's Headnoise gig @Cafe Nela was the shit! Cafe Nela is a cool little funky place that belongs to the most Punk Rock female I've ever met in my Life who's name I believe was Shirley! ha ha ha Puro loca veterana that's for sure! Orale! Cafe Nela is her old house that is now converted into a beer garden (legal term) with a small bar and a stage for bands to play on - it's great! There's crazy art flourishes everywhere, paintings, sculptures, whatnot, and the musical diversity of the place is impressive, everything from Jazz to Cumbia bands and everything in between have played there or are going to play there. Go to www.cafenela.net for more info about the place, and if you're in a band, I definitely highly recommend that you book a gig here. Like the Cafe Nela Facebook page by clicking here. Don't be scared of the neighborhood, parking is a bitch but if you get there early it's OK. Check out the SalvaMex place right next door while you're there. Great Salvadorean / Mexican food there. You'll thank me for it later. ;) The bands that played were interesting. The Belligerent Buzzards were an old school Cathay de Grande $2 Tuesdays kind of band, with a drummer that was older than me! He told me he was 73 years old, he was sporting a full on colored mohawk, and was barely breaking a sweat after the band's set was done. Inspirational that's for sure! Check them out if you get the chance. They're pretty good in a "we don't care that much" kind of way. Holokaust were as bruuuuuuutttaaaaaaalllllllllllll and as LOUD as always (D-Beat 4 Lyfe), and Underground Alliance killed it like they always do. I didn't get a chance to get any pix of the bands because I was outside chatting with everyone and then afterwards Headnoise were interviewed by Jet from Blast TV for an upcoming show episode. My name is Gilbert. I play drums and eat tacos. hahahahaha I really had nothing else to say to a Christian Punk interviewer about a Christian Punk band I'm in... heh heh Fun night. Headnoise played an actual Heavy Metal gig on Saturday night @Angel City, and I'm still not sure why! LOL They fucking loved us though, and we made a lot of new friends and spent a lot of time hanging out with them and all our old friends who made the trek out to see us play. Special shout out to Tracy and Saul Of Tarsus for being such cool dudes. Was that a Dystopia cover I heard you guys play? hahaha Sick! After the gig was over and everyone had already left, and after Preston and I were the only ones still standing in the parking lot (we do that alot), I jumped in my ride and made the 4+ hour drive back Home. Something invigorating about watching the sun rise over Stateline...
